Grand Knights Message:
Brother Knights,
Hello and welcome to the new fraternal year. Before I begin with future events, let me tell everyone a little about myself. I am a 33 year old lawyer, married with two daughters ages 3 years and 4 weeks. Before I was elected as your Grand Knight, I was the Deputy Grand Knight under our Past Grand Knight Mark Palmer. I learned much from Mark and hope to continue in our council’s excellence.
We wish to congratulate newly elected Council Officers for the 2009-2010 Fraternal Year:
We also wish to recognize S. K. Joseph Guarino, our outgoing Financial Secretary. Joe has given many faithful years of service to our council and we all owe a debt of gratitude to him. Thank You Joe!
We also wish to recognize Brother Knight Ryan Rosevear, our new Financial Secretary. While the Financial Secretary position is appointed by the Supreme Council, it is one that is vital to the operation of each council.
Also, congratulations and support to our new District Deputy, S. K. Thomas Kennedy from Bishop Gallagher Council in Royal Oak.
Our thanks go to our retiring District Deputy S. K. Richard Tschirhardt, Sr for all his hard work in making our District a success.
We have many future events planned in hope of increasing our membership and membership activity. These events include a social party every quarter. Our first social party is planned for 10/27/09 @ 7:30 in the conference center. Come and join us in a celebration of our fraternalism. In addition, our meeting format will be changing slightly. When permitted, the business meeting will be the first meeting of each month and a round table style meeting will be the second meeting of each month. This change is in effort to increase meeting efficiency and meeting attendance. Have a safe and happy fall!

Future Goals from Our Grand Knight: I for one believe in simple, straightforward goals, therefore let me state our 2009-2010 goals as a council during my tenure as Grand Knight: 4 Simple Points
1. Increase membership per our quota – We are given a quota from the State each year that we must fill! 2. Increase membership involvement – A council can run smoothly only when it has an active membership at large. 3. Increase council funds – We are a non-profit and our funds we earn are distributed to various local charities. 4. Sustain retention efforts of delinquent members.
Again, we prefer members to be as actively involved as possible
Did you know? In 1954, Congress after a campaign by the Knights of Columbus, added the words, 'under God,' to the Pledge. The Pledge was now both a patriotic oath and a public prayer.
