Grand Knights Message: Brothers,
September is almost upon us. In August your council Assisted with the Parish Dream Cruise Party, helped with Parking Security for Dream Cruise Saturday, participated in 2 First Degree Ceremonies, began the Backpacks for Kids program, and attended the State Officers Installation.
In September your council will hold a Membership Blitz, honor the memory of those who lost their lives on September 11th, install the Council Officers for the 2008-2009 Fraternal Year, hold the annual family picnic, participate in the Annual Tigers Night at Comerica Park, participate in the 40 Days for Life, and sponsorship of 7 Tools for Effective Parenting Series.

Meeting Reminder If you have not been to a meeting in a while, here’s an opportunity to have a say so in the operations of the council. Our meetings are held the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. A listing of meetings for the following months follows:
Meetings are held in the Conference Center located in the Plaza with YaYa’s Chicken, on Woodward Ave. Just North of the Church. Park in the Northwood Church Parking lot and enter through the rear of the building. It is mandatory that you present a current membership card to enter the meetings. Council Recognitions:

Corporate Communion We will be holding a corporate communion Sunday September 7, 2008, 10:45 AM Mass, to remember those who lost their lives on 9/11/2001 and to pray for World Peace. 40 Days for Life September 24 - November 2, our community will be one of more than 170 cities in 45 states joining together for the largest and longest coordinated pro-life mobilization in history -- the 40 Days for Life campaign.

2008 – 2009 Officers Installation The 2008-2009 fraternal year Officers Installation will be Sunday Sept. 7 2008, 1:00 PM, at the Fr. Lynch Knights of Columbus Hall, 870 N Main St, Clawson. All Officers are required to attend, and are requested to dress in a jacket and tie, 4th Degree members may wear their tuxedo and social baldric. The installation is open to all members of the council, as well as their families. A luncheon will follow.

Shrine Parenting Series Deacon Avery, and his wife Barb, are presenting their parenting series. The classes will begin Wednesday, September 24, 2008, and will run every other week, for five session, through November 19. The classes are held at Shrine High School, and child care will be available. The cost per couple is $45.00 (plus a one time $5 fee for childcare). Your council is sponsoring this event by providing refreshments. Requests will be made of council members to donate baked good during this series, for each of the five dates. Annual Family Picnic The 2008 Annual Family Council Picnic will be held Sunday, September 28, 2008, Berkley Jaycee Park (located at Webster, between Bacon & Phillips). Main entrée and beverages will be provided. Each family is requested to bring a dish to pass. Please RSVP to mark Palmer (248) 588-3469 by Friday, Sept 26, 2008. The picnic will be held rain or shine, we have a pavilion reserved.
Membership Blitz September 6 and 7. Following all masses, your council will be holding a membership blitz. A council is only as strong as our membership base. Many times, when a gentleman has been asked the question “How come you are not a member of the Knight of Columbus?” the reply is “I was never asked.”. We have an opportunity to increase our ranks, and provide the church and community additional resources to help those who are in need. If you wish to assist your council with this recruitment drive, please contact Membership Chairman, Archdiocesan Membership Director Frank Roche (248) 435-4717.
