Grand Knights Message:
Brothers,
My family and I would like to extend a heartfelt thanks. As many of you know, our son Leo has a mild form of Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome. I joined the Knights of Columbus before Leo was diagnosed, not fully knowing the purpose of the “tootsie roll drive”. Three years ago, your council designated Kids on the Go as a recipient of the MI Drive proceeds, and each year afterward. Brother Norm Brault brought this charity to the attention of the council.
Not knowing the council’s involvement with Kids on the Go, my wife, Susan, enrolled Leo into the Kids on the go program in 2004. What a surprise it was to us to find out that the council was considering donating to this cause.
Because of your efforts, Leo has been able to continue to receive occupational, physical, and speech therapies throughout the summer.
As Leo is about to turn 6 this month, he will no longer be eligible to attend Kids on the Go next year. That being said I would encourage the council to continue to support this wonderful organization whose sole purpose is to provide the services kids with learning disabilities need through the summer months, so that they will not loose the life skills they have learned during the school year.
Vivat Jesus! Mark L. Palmer - Grand Knight

Holy Cross Children’s Services On Tuesday August 28, 2007, your council voted to approve a resolution to support the Michael J. McGivney School for Exceptional Children supported by Michigan Knights of Columbus. The resolution states that your council will designate a portion of the proceeds from the 2008 MI Drive, calculated to be 17%, for this school. Based on the totals from last year, the council would have designated $842.00 for this cause. The net effect would be to reduce the donations to our 3 other recipients by $280.00 each. It is the opinion of those members present when the resolution was voted upon and signed, that with a little extra effort, we can make up the difference for next year.

Officers Installation Thank you to all of the Officers and Brother Knights who attended the 2007-2008 Fraternal Year Officers Installation. It was especially inspiring when Msgr. Easton pointed out that one of the ways he and all of the religious community could show their support was by attending these functions. Along with Msgr. Easton, attending the officers installation were Past Council Chaplain S. K. Rev. Tomasz Maka, S. K. Rev. Pawel Kaczmarczyk, Rev. Krzystof Nowak, Rev. Jaroslaw Kowalczyk, Sister Noreen Ellison S. C. and seminarian Phil Ching. Msgr. Easton said to take the display of priests a religious as a sign of the full support of the parish for the works that you do.
Parish Dream Cruise Party As in years past, the Knights of Columbus were called upon to provide security for the Parish Dream Cruise Party Friday August 17. Our efforts did not go unnoticed. Below is a letter of thanks the council received from Gerard Baltrusaitis, responsible for coordinating the volunteer workers for the party:

The Knights of Columbus celebrate a Corporate Communion to bring all Knights together to demonstrate unity for the celebration of the Mass and Eucharist. The Assembly Color Corp participates so it is a very festive occasion. The council at the National Shrine of the Little Flower has over 100 Knights.
