Grand Knights Message:

Brothers,

In August we were given the opportunity to sell parking spaces in front of the Conference Center for Dream Cruise Saturday. With the assistance of the Shrine Dads Club, who provided the Permit, supplies to secure the parking lot, and start up change. Many members of your council came out to help with this fund raiser.

The work was not difficult, but the hours were long for some of us. We learned a good deal about how to operate the lot for next year, a process of trial and error that will undoubtedly continue. We received verbal commitments from a number of the patrons for next year. The businesses in the Plaza stated that they had increased business this year, because we were able to provide parking spaces and unimpeded access to those businesses.

The last meeting in August provided a lively debate over the distribution of the proceeds from this fund raiser. It had been previously decided that your council would keep half of the, and donate the other half. It was finally decided to donate half of the proceeds to the Shrine Dads Club as a thank you for providing us this opportunity. Additionally, your Council uses the Soccer Nets and Balls for the Annual Soccer Challenge as well as the Basket Ball facilities at the Grade School for the Annual Free Throw Challenge. The Shrine Dads Club is formed to support the School Athletics.

Thursday September 13, members of your council presented the check to the Shrine Dads Club, to which we received a warm round of applause, handshakes and personal thanks from many of the members. Also, we received the assurance the two organizations will work together in the future.

Vivat Jesus!

Please present some form of identification, your Membership Card would be the best option, whenever you are addressing someone who is not familiar with you. Do not assume that the person you are addressing knows who you are. Any contact with children in and around the schools or Church, for any reason that you are representing the Knights of Columbus, must be made with more than one Brother Knight in attendance.

Help the Unborn and Newborn

Mother and Unborn Baby Care crisis pregnancy center needs our help. The center, run by Sam and Juliana Mannino, provides ultrasounds and support services to Mothers who are facing an unexpected pregnancy, in an effort to encourage them to keep their babies instead of killing them.

The Center is in need of the following items:

  • Newborn Sleepers and clothing (0-3 months)

Please support our Brother Knight and the lives of those babies his organization saves each day. (248) 559-7576
