Grand Knights Message:
Brothers,
Happy May to all. As the weather is changing so is our council. This month we will be opening up the Nominations for Council Officers for the upcoming fraternal year. If you are interested in running for an office, make sure your name gets on the nomination list. The nominations will be open for a month so if you are not sure, you still will be able to be nominated throughout the month including election night on June 12th, 2007.
I would like the thank Larry and Ellen Kehoe for the great reception for the Fraternal Benefits night. Everyone there was truly informed.
This past week I received three checks from the Michigan State Council for our efforts for the MI Drive. Each of our Charities: Rose Hill, Mary’s Children and Kids on the Go will be receiving a check for $1651.00 and some change. If these happen to be your personal favorite charity, please come to one of the meetings this month to select a date for delivery of the check.
Vivat Jesus!

On April 16th members of our Council # 12408 and our District Deputy, Frank Roche, donated a check to Mother and Unborn Child Crisis Pregnancy Center. The check was proceeds from the Baby Bottle campaign that our DD collected for, from the past few months at meetings.
The Great Grape on the way to the Grand…………
Again I would like to thank all council members who donated items to the council basket for the State Convention at the Grand Hotel on Macknac Island. This year the theme was the “Great Grape” and the basket consisted of thing made from Grapes. The basket will be bid on during a silent auction on Saturday May 26th. Proceeds raised from the silent auction will be donated to Holy Cross Children’s Services.

A Council members thoughts on the annual MI Drive…..
There was a young man working to raise money for the children of God. He was tired and weak, his heart was not with him, but his duty to serve was. After holding his charity can and tootsie rolls for about an hour, he said Lord, I am weak and tired, I have one tootsie roll left (there was another box of 100, not opened), can I leave after I give out this last tootsie roll? The Lord said, "okay". So, the young man, now seeing his departure on that last tootsie roll, got new life. His heart came back, he was full of life, excited, and happy to serve, even smiling, actively asking people to help the Children of God. People started filling the can with money till it overflowed. One hour later, the young man stood amazed with a can overflowing with money, still holding that last tootsie roll. Can you believe it, everyone that gave in that last hour, said, " you can keep the tootsie roll". So, the young man left, with a can full of money, 1 tootsie roll, and much happiness in his heart knowing that he helped the children of God.
