Grand Knights Message:

I would like to start off by thanking all of the Officers and members who made the 2006-2007 fraternal year a success. Through the effort of all the members of the council, we were able to achieve the Supreme Council Star Award, the Quick Start Membership Award, and the Columbian Award. This year, at the Michigan State Convention, your council was one of three councils, state wide, honored for achieving the highest percentage of new members brought in this fraternal year.

I would like to extend a special thank you to your Past Grand Knight, John Iannotti, without whom these honored recognitions could not take place. Additionally, a special congratulations to our District Deputy and membership Director Frank Roche who received his Century Club membership. Membership in the Century Club is achieved when an individual member sponsors 100 new members who become a Knight of Columbus. As part of the recognition for becoming a member of the Century Club, each year at the State Convention new members are presented with a blazer.

And finally I would like to extend my congratulations to your 2007-2008 Fraternal Year Officers. I look forward to working with all of the members to continue the past successes our Council has achieved. With the continued support of all the members, we should be able to continue our legacy of success and support within the parish and community.

News from the State Convention………

The 2007 Michigan State Convention produced a significant change to the way each council will operate. Based on the input from you, the 2 council representative, along with a majority of the other delegates throughout the state, voted to increase the per capita tax by $2.00 per year. What that means to the council is that we now must send $10.00 per member to the state to offset the operating expenses they incur. The council is responsible for paying the per capita for each member, even if that member has not paid their dues. As you can see, we can quickly run into a financial difficulty if we continue to cover those members who have not paid there dues. Please make every effort to pay your dues on time.

Happy Birthday!!

Pledge of Allegiance

I Pledge Allegiance - I Promise to be faithful and true (Promise my loyalty)

to the flag - to the emblem that stands for and represents

of the United States - all 50 states, each of them individual, and individually represented on the flag

of America - yet formed into a UNION of one Nation.

and to the Republic - And I also pledge my loyalty to the Government that is itself a Republic, a form of government where the PEOPLE are sovereign,

for which it stands, - this government also being represented by the Flag to which I promise loyalty.

one Nation under God, - These 50 individual states are united as a single Republic under the Divine providence of God, "our most powerful resource" (according to the words of President Eisenhower)

Indivisible, - and can not be separated. (This part of the original version of the pledge was written just 50 years after the beginning of the Civil War and demonstrates the unity sought in the years after that divisive period in our history)

with Liberty - The people of this Nation being afforded the freedom to pursue "life, liberty, and happiness",

and Justice - And each person entitled to be treated justly, fairly, and according to proper law and principle,

for All. - And these principles afforded to EVERY AMERICAN, regardless of race, religion, color, creed, or any other criteria. Just as the flag represents 50 individual states that can not be divided or separated, this Nation represents millions of people who can not be separated or divided.
