Grand Knights Message.........……..……..….................
Dear Brother Knights, I recently submitted a council activities report. As I was filling this report out, it occurred to me how many generous members we have in the council. I do not mean necessarily money, but generous with their time, their blood (blood donor), their caring, their love and dedication to God. It is obvious many of our members do not just go to Church for an hour a week; they carry God’s will through out the week in their actions and deeds. We are truly a blessed council.
We are also very fortunate to recently have our First Degree team certified. On October 30th, the team performed for our District Deputy. The members of the team included: Tom Moll, John Kelly, Giovanni Iannotti, John Snyder, Aaron Dean, Joe Guarino and Matt Kennedy. My sincere congratulations to Tom Moll for his persistence. It has been a long road with a lot of frustrations and disappointments, however it was worth it. It is still not too late to join the team. We could use backups to some of the parts. There are parts with no speaking, little speaking and a lot of speaking. See Tom Moll if you are interested. Remember the ceremonials will be changing and the parts may not as long.
We have several activities that will be coming up. If you are asked, please consider Chairing a committee or being a member of one. As I said a few months ago, many hands make a light load.
Vivat Jesus!

TACO DINNER Our Council held a Taco Dinner fund raiser on October 22nd. The results were not what were expected. However unfortunately we did not have much time to promote this event. We would like to thank the following for their participation: Giovanni Iannotti, Mark Palmer, Joe Guarino, John Snyder, Matt Kennedy, Frank Roche, John Kelly, Joe Chase, the Squires, Jacob Kennedy, Nicole Iannotti, Debbie Roche, Sue Palmer, Pat Guarino and Pat Iannotti.
SWEATSHIRTS FOR KIDS Our annual sweatshirt for kid’s project has begun. The Barrels are in the Church. This year we are getting help from the Boy Scouts, the Challenge girls, the Squires and the Mothers Club. We are looking for sweatshirts that have printing on them. College sports team logos, or other appropriate printing is encouraged. The sizes that are needed are L, XL, and XXL. The project will last through December 17th when we’ll deliver the sweatshirts to Brother Francis. We will have a wrapping party on December 11th at noon in the conference center. Please stop by and help wrap.
PARISH TURKEY DINNER…..…………………..........DECEMBER 10, 2005 Our second Parish Turkey dinner is scheduled for Saturday December 10th at the Grade School Gym. Dinner will be served from 5pm until 8pm. Last year we served 100 dinners. This year we are anticipating at least that amount. The Shrine Grade school Mothers club will be providing centerpieces for the event and the Ladies Guild has been asked to help with the beverages.
COLLEGE BASKETBALL GAME………………….…DECEMBER 3, 2005 Brother Knight Jerry Hayden from St Owens council is coordinating a fund raising event for the District with the University of Detroit. Jerry has negotiated a special discount price of $7.00 per ticket for the U of D game on December 3rd at Calihan Hall. Councils are encouraged to sell these tickets at 12.00 or less. Proceeds will be used by each council to decide. At the council’s last meeting, we voted to support this event. More information is available by contacting Norm Brault at 248- 398-1737
STATE RAFFLE The annual State Raffle is in full swing. Each of us received 5 books of tickets to sell. Remember for each book that is sold, the council receives $5.00 back. What a deal and what GREAT prizes this year. If you have not received your books yet, contact Grand Knight John Iannotti at 586-731-1779.
COUNCIL CHRISTMAS PARTY…………………………DECEMBER 13th Here are the details for the Council Kid's Christmas Party:
Tuesday, December 13 from 7 - 8:15 p.m. at the Conference Center Bring a dessert to share Bring a present from Santa for the kids/grandkids ($15 limit, plus full name on present) Santa around 8 p.m. (depending on number of kids) Need R.S.V.P. (with the number of kids) by December 10th. Leave message or e-mail with our family.
Council needs to supply Santa, beverages, cups, plates, napkins and silverware. Probably do punch and coffee.
We will need some people to bring frosting and/or decorations for cookies and some cookies for the kids to decorate. I can explain later if you like.
Also, we can wrap the sweatshirts during the party. Heck, we can have a wrapping table even. The kids may enjoy that! We should have a crowd (hopefully) and refreshments there already. Let the people who are willing to help with the Sweatshirt drive enjoy our Christmas party also. We hope to be done by 8:15 p.m. so that gives us some time afterwards also.

CHRISTMAS SAFETY………… The holiday season is coming up and every year we hear reports of families suffering near Christmas because of fire. This year the council would like to due our part to help offer suggestions for a safe Christmas season. We have invited the Royal Oak Fire and Police Departments to have a Christmas tree and Christmas shopping safety presentation. This is scheduled for Sunday December 11th at 2:00pm in the conference center. Please get the word out and attend this informative afternoon.
During this period of Thanksgiving, let us remember those who are not as fortunate as some of us are. Let’s offer our Prayers for the homeless, poor, those who have lost loved ones this past year, members of the Military that are away from their families this season, and those that are struggling day to day. Prayer is powerful.
RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE………………………… Kathy Dorsch from the Garden club has asked for our assistance with a project for her son’s school and the Ronald McDonald house. She would like the Knights to save pop can pull tabs. This project will be easy to support.
News submissions are invited from all our Brothers, Officers, Directors and Committee Chairs to be included in our newsletter.
