Our Little Flower
Grand Knights
Message.........……..……..….................
Dear
Brother Knights,
I hope you had a
safe, happy and thankful, Thanksgiving. I would like to thank all of you
for your patience, cooperation, and participating in the many activities
so far.
The Christmas
season is upon us and our fraternal year is coming up on the half way
point. I would like to take a minute to reflect on what we have
accomplished. We have had successes and some failures. Here are some of
our accomplishments: more attendance at meetings, soccer tournament,
corporate communions, Festival of St Therese, being looked at as a lead
council in the district, getting a first degree team together and taking
step one in certification, and a couple of successful fish frys. As I
said, these are just some of the accomplishments of the council. Our job
is not finished, as a matter of fact, it is only beginning.
There are many
events that are scheduled in the next couple of months that your
participation would be appreciated. We have a big weekend in December
with five events scheduled. More on these events within this newsletter.
In January we are participating in the District Vocations dinner and in
February we are planning on scheduling our Blue Mass. Plans are starting
to begin for the annual MI drive on Palm Sunday weekend. If you have any
charities that you would like to see benefit from the proceeds, please
start gathering information so we can discuss this at a future meeting.
On behalf of my
wife Pat and my children, I would like to wish you and yours a very Holy
and Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
Vivat
Jesus!

COUNCIL CHRISTMAS PARTY…………...………
At our next
scheduled council meeting, December 13th, we will be having
our annual Council Christmas party. The party will begin at 7:00 pm and
Santa will be arriving around 7:45. If you have children and or
grandchildren, make sure you bring a gift to help Santa. Please indicate
the name of the child on the package and keep it $15.00 or under. If you
would like to help or bring a dish, contact Matt Kennedy @ 248-435-4939.
Hope to see you there.
BLOOD DONATION…………………
If you
periodically give blood, contact Mark Palmer and let him know your
schedule. Every time a member of the council donates blood, it needs to
be recorded so reports can be submitted quarterly to the state. When
you come back from giving blood, contact Mark and let him know.
DONATION REQUEST……………………….
The council has
been asked to make a donation of any amount to the Shrine Challenge
Girls that went on a pilgrimage to Mexico. Any amount would be
appreciated. The Challenge girl group supported the council with their
sweatshirt for kids program last year and are helping again this year.
The cost of the trip was $585.00 per girl.

4TH DEGREE…………………………
On November 22nd,
the council had the pleasure of listening to our Fourth Degree assembly.
Faithful Navigator John Hundiak and Commander LT Mathews attended the
meeting and presented the background of the 4th Degree. One
of the honors and pleasures of being a member of the Fourth Degree is
the Color Corp and the Chalice presentation. If any member of the Fourth
Degree passes away, a chalice is presented in their names to the members
family. The Chalice is donated to a needy Priest or organization at the
families request. Another honor of being a member of the Fourth Degree,
is the opportunity to join the Color Corp. Being a member of the color
corp is NOT a requirement but it is an opportunity 4th Degree
Members have. If you are interested in joining the Fourth Degree or our
Order, contact John Kelly, John Iannotti, Mark Palmer, John Snyder, Matt
Kennedy, Larry Kehoe are any other member of the Fourth Degree.
DETROIT TITAN BASKETBALL…………………
There is an
Inaugural Knights of Columbus Day at the University of Detroit Mercy
basketball game on December 3rd. The Titans take on Western
Michigan University at 4:00pm at Calihan Hall. There will be a Pre-Game
Meet & Greet at the Titan club at 3:00pm. U of D has offered these
tickets at a discounted rate to Knights of Columbus councils so they can
use it for a fund raiser. Our council has decided that part of the
proceeds will be given to Seminarians at Sacred Heart Seminary. To get
your tickets contact Norm Brault at 248-414-7254 or Joe Chase at
248-589-2448.
